Is Shell V-Power Ethanol-Free in India?

What does Shell India say?

Shell India's fuels disclosure says its regular petrol and V-Power petrol are ethanol-blended at the same percentage level. It describes blending up to 20%, with local variation according to supply. Therefore, paying for V-Power is not evidence that you bought ethanol-free petrol.

This statement concerns Shell's Indian offering. A product page, discussion or photograph from another country does not establish the blend at an Indian station.

Why does premium petrol cause confusion?

The name on the canopy, the grade on the dispenser and a claim about engine cleaning can all look like indicators of fuel purity. They answer different questions. Shell describes additive-related cleaning benefits separately from its ethanol disclosure. A customer seeking E0 needs an explicit answer about the blend, even when the product has other premium attributes.

When comparing options, write down exactly what matters to you. Is it an octane requirement in the vehicle manual, an ethanol limit, a preferred supplier, or a budget? This avoids choosing a product that answers a different question.

What should I ask at the outlet?

Ask for the grade's full name, the current blend information, the source of that information and the price. If staff say the blend is lower than the published maximum, ask whether that statement applies to the current supply. Keep a date with the note.

A receipt is useful evidence of a transaction, but it may not list ethanol content. A receipt labelled V-Power should not be uploaded as proof of E0 simply because the price was higher than regular petrol.
